Social Enterprise and Social Value
Nottingham Trent University, March 2016
In March 2016 ARCOM held a Social Enterprise and Social Value seminar at Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
A small group of invited participants represented the major players in this space, including private and public sector contractors and clients, social enterprises, researchers and academics. The aim of the day was to draw together some of the leading minds in social enterprise and Social Value in the built environment to better define the field of enquiry, share experiences and consolidate existing efforts.
Professor Martin Loosemore, from The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, opened the seminar with a keynote. Several organisations also showcased good practice, including Nottingham based Anna Mimms from BESTBuild; Leeds based Dan Chaplin from Latch; Wakefield based Simon Gutteridge from Wakefield District Housing; and Paul Senior, Soarbuild, from Sheffield. Beulah Allaway from Anthony Collins Solicitors provided a legal update on the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 and Public Contract Regulations 2015.
